From the regional director

Dear colleagues,

mr

You will find this issue of the Latin America Newsletter under a new format, which is the result of the work of the IB towards the improvement of its means of communicating with schools. It has been designed taking into consideration all the suggestions made by our readers.
As you all well know, the IB is working on two dimensions: the future and the present. Both entail great challenges and both are aimed at continuing to provide the best support to the schools, their teachers and their students.

As you will read in the articles, the regional conference that was held in Costa Rica was a great success.  Presenters from the IB, from schools and the presence of the Vice President of Costa Rica, Ms Laura Chinchilla and the Minister of Education of Ecuador, Mr Raul Vallejo Corral, gave the adequate context to the sessions.  The world of education, private and public, was represented and showed its significant achievements in contributing to build a better world.

Quoting the words of Oscar Arias, Latin America is a blank canvas in the gallery of the world and we need to provide paintbrushes to children and youngsters to allow them to paint a landscape of justice and solidarity.

The IB, with your cooperation, has the commitment to allow this to happen.

Sincerely,

Marta Rodger

Regional director
