Curriculum Manager - Primary Years Programme (PYP) Ref 217

Two posts - one commencing April 2008, one commencing September 2008

Salary: £30,000 - £35,600 per year

Closing date for receipt of applications: Friday 25 January 2008

These positions will involve the development of early childhood and primary years curriculum, and curriculum support documentation. Although subject areas do not confine learning in the Primary Years Programme, the following subjects have relevance throughout the programme: language, mathematics, social studies, science, arts, and personal, social and physical education. In your application please indicate the above subject areas in which you have a particular interest or expertise. The collection and management of information from schools, consultants and researchers is a significant part of this responsibility. The curriculum manager reports directly to the head of the Primary Years Programme.

You will be a qualified early childhood/primary teacher with significant teaching experience, at least 2 years of which must be in a school authorized to implement the PYP. You will also be able to show evidence of further professional learning. Experience of supporting the development of the PYP as a programme coordinator/principal, a PYP workshop leader, or a school visitor/mentor is desirable. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. In addition, knowledge of Spanish would be an advantage. Experience in curriculum development, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and a willingness to work collaboratively are vital.

Consideration will be given to teachers on a leave of absence or sabbatical who may wish to apply for one of the PYP posts on the basis of a two-year contract.

These posts are based in the IB office in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom and will involve some international travel. IT skills, including the ability to use a variety of desktop applications are essential.
