Head of Applications (Ref 467c)
Salary: £52,062 - £65,078 per year

The head of applications is part of the IT department senior management team and contributes to the overall management of the department, but with a particular responsibility to manage the IT team responsible for all the IT software applications within the IB. The job holder will be responsible for the whole portfolio of applications used within the IB including the planning, directing and coordination of the development of IT software systems. This includes the leadership and management of the software development, test, and support team, including the solutions architecture manager and the application transformation manager.
The position requires close consultation with senior IB staff in order to ensure the development team provides appropriate IT services within the context of the IB strategic plan. The head of applications works with IB staff to establish development and IT requirements and to advise on future development projects. The head of applications also works with external suppliers for specific projects.
The post holder must be an excellent communicator who is able to work effectively with people from a wide variety of cultures.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in an IT discipline
- Extensive experience and knowledge of analysis and development
- Extensive knowledge of the policy, framework, management structures and reporting procedures for all aspects of the applications and related activities
- Detailed knowledge of several application platforms
- Proven project management skills
- Excellent people management experience and skills
- Knowledge of the global software supply market
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to chair meetings, make presentations, resolve conflict situations and to communicate complex technical issues using simple and clear language
- Knowledge of current and evolving development methodologies.
Location
The post is based in Cardiff, Wales, UK. This position will be relocated to Singapore.
