The International Baccalaureate provides a wide range of services to IB World Schools and to prospective schools that are interested in our programs. In addition, the IB offers a full array of professional development opportunities for teachers and administrators throughout the year.
Major Gifts Officer
This position will be responsible for raising both restricted (for specific projects) and unrestricted (discretionary) funds. It is also responsible for establishing solid relationships with US funders in an international context, This will require working at high levels within the organization and outside with counsel to maintain an awareness of the issues affecting the organization.
This position is also responsible for managing the high-level volunteers of the IB Fund, including recommendations concerning their recruitment, training, and retention.
The Major Gifts Officer will:
- Work with the Head of Development to identify, solicit and develop new and existing donors within the US
- Funding proposals and other solicitation materials are prepared as needed
- Case of support, solicitation letters and stewardship reports are prepared in assistance to the Head of Development
- The IB mission and vision is communicated effectively to corporations and major gift prospects.
- Responsible to develop excellent relationships with corporate and individual donors
- Develop a comprehensive plan for securing major gifts and members for the IB’s giving societies (such as the Director General’s Circle) and execute the strategies in order to meet planned goals and establish a strong foundation for fundraising within the IB
- Prepare annual revenue forecasts, schedules of meetings with donors and stewardship activities

Plan developed and communicated for approval by the Head of Development within an agreed timeline

Through collaboration with development officers and the development department, Annual Stewardship program is created

Serve as an ambassador for the organization as a whole to the most important funders in the US in order to build credibility with high level donors and volunteers

Projects are developed and communicated for approval to the Development Director to create a pool of candidates for funding
Requirements:
-
Significant & successful (5 – 10 years) fundraising experience in the US

Success in personally securing gifts of at least $100,000 in funding

Outstanding donor relations skills

High level of interpersonal skills and ability to build partnerships

Experience in working with corporate and individual donors, including one-on-one solicitation
- Good understanding of the legal, financial, and communication challenges involved in non-profit fundraising
- Ability to manage these issues in a complex international environment.
- Strategic thinking and planning abilities, manifested in the development and management of externally funded projects
- Exceptional skills in communication both written and oral
- Ability to work with people of all socio-economic levels and many cultures
- Proficient understanding of the US education system
