IB Americas

The IB Americas includes IB World Schools in 30 countries and territories in Central, North and South America. IB World Schools in the Americas are state/public, private, magnet, charter, international, parochial and secular and serve a broad and diverse range of students in urban, suburban and rural communities.

There are 379 schools providing the Primary Years Programme in 18 countries, 565 providing the Middle Years Programme in 18 countries and 1,126 providing the Diploma Programme in 30 countries.

IB Americas Global Centre Opens

We are pleased to announce that on Monday, 16 August 2010, the Americas Global Centre officially opened in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. The Centre will support schools throughout the Americas and will house several global divisions, including professional development, policy and research, as well as school services.

The Centre is part of the organization’s plan to move our mission and programmes forward into a new chapter in the IB’s history—one that will not only provide more service and support to every IB World School—but also increased access to IB programmes to more students.

All correspondence intended for the IB New York office should be directed to the Americas Global Centre as of 16 August 2010. Both the IB Buenos Aires and IB Vancouver offices will remain open and will continue to provide support to the IB community throughout the Americas.

Americas Photo Art Contest Video

Students from all over the Americas region submitted photos of original artwork reflecting one or more attributes of the IB learner profile.  The artwork is now displayed throughout the IB Americas Global Centre in Bethesda, MD, USA.
