Director, IB Americas
Drew Deutsch joined the International Baccalaureate in April 2008 as the regional director for IB North America. On 1 January 2009, Drew was appointed as Director of the IB Americas region.
Born and educated in the United States, Drew graduated from Georgetown University in 1992 with a bachelor of arts in psychology and received his IB diploma in 1988 from the United Nations International School in New York City.
Prior to joining the IB Drew had over 15 years experience in the education services industry with The Princeton Review. He served in a wide range of roles across the company’s K12 Services and Test Preparation divisions, most recently as Vice President of Account Management and Operations. In this position, Drew led a large team of educators and support staff that provided high quality interim assessment and intervention programs to school districts across the United States. Drew also served as Vice President of Technology and Online Learning for The Princeton Review’s Test Prep Division where he was responsible for launching the company’s Online Learning Division in 2000. During his career, Drew has developed strong relationships with educators and school districts across the Americas and conducted professional development seminars on topics such as the college admissions process and improving student achievement. Paul Campbell
Head of Regional Development
Paul Campbell is Head of Regional Development for the IB Americas. In this role, he oversees the region’s work with interested schools, universities, governments, school districts, educational organizations, and associations of IB World Schools. He also oversees the IB support desk and the region’s annual conference.
An IB employee since 1988, Paul has served numerous roles for the organization, most recently as the head of outreach and volunteer services at IB North America.
Prior to working for the IB, Paul was a staff writer and columnist for several daily newspapers in northern New Jersey. At the same time, he worked for two large non-profit organizations, expediting cultural exchanges between lay people from the USA and the former Soviet Union. Paul’s education was from the University of Michigan, where he studied journalism and history.
Marketing and Communications Manager
Sandra Coyle joined the IB in April 2006 as the Marketing and Communications Manager for the Americas region.
Sandra has over 17-years experience in marketing strategy and communications for corporations, non-profits and political campaigns. She began her career at the Monitor Group in Cambridge, Massachusetts, an international management consulting firm, helping to expand their marketing presence worldwide.
After relocating to New York in 1997 she worked at several advertising agencies advising global corporations on their marketing presence in key markets worldwide. A veteran of national, state and local political campaigns, Sandra developed a passion for education when she launched her own grassroots organization, working with non-profit organizations Harlem Children’s Zone and the Impact Coalition, to encourage inner city youth to seek a career in politics through workshops at after school events.
She received her bachelor of arts in journalism and history from Rutgers University and is currently working towards her masters in international relations at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. Sandra is a member of the American Marketing Association and the Public Relations Society of America.
Margot Hoerrner
Head of Professional Development
With nearly 20 years experience in program development, education and nonprofit leadership, Margot Hoerrner comes to the IB with a deep commitment to education and training. Most recently, Margot served as the vice president of outreach and education with the United Nations World Food Program - United States (WFP-USA). During her tenure, Margot established a comprehensive national outreach initiative, training leaders across the country in advocacy, education, fundraising and media outreach to raise awareness about global hunger and poverty. Prior to her time with WFP-USA, Margot lived in Jakarta, Indonesia, and worked with the Centre for Strategic and International Studies to assist in rebuilding the education infrastructure in the tsunami-destroyed region of the Aceh province. In addition, Margot worked as a teacher at The Woodlynde School outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA for nearly ten years. During this time, Margot developed and taught a K-12 music curriculum, a seven-eight French curriculum, and established strategic partnerships with Philadelphia's creative arts community to create learning and working opportunities for her students.
Margot received a bachelor’s degree in education and music composition from Bennington College in Vermont, USA and a master’s in public administration from the Harvard University Kennedy School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.
Margot grew up in Ridgewood, New Jersey, USA and Toronto, Ontario, Canada and currently lives in the LeDroit Park neighborhood of Washington, DC, USA where, in 2008, she was elected to serve as ANC commissioner, working with Mayor Adrian Fenty and the DC City Council to improve public policy for a neighborhood in transition. Margot is an avid traveler with a specific interest in the developing world, is working on restoring her 100-year old house, and has always had a passion for empowering others to have an impact.
Marta Mazurkiewicz
Finance Manager
Marta Mazurkiewicz was born in Poland, and has studied at Polish, German, and French universities. Marta received her MBA jointly from École Supérieure de Commerce de Montpellier in France and European University Viadrina in Germany. She also received her law degree from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland.
Marta began working for Genesys Conferencing, a global telecommunications company, while studying in France, and later transferred to their U.S. headquarters in Virginia. In 2008, Marta accepted a position with KPMG’s German office, where she worked on corporate mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings. She later worked as interim Finance Manager for Sanofi-Aventis, an international pharmaceutical firm.
Marta brings a vast knowledge of financial planning & analysis, business development, financial reporting, and implementation of internal controls to the International Baccalaureate. She is fluent in Polish, German, English, and French, and is now studying Spanish.
Although European by birth, Marta considers Washington, D.C. to be her home. She is active in a variety of local cultural activities, including opera, classical music, ballet, modern dance, and theater. She is an avid biker and can often be found on the bike trails of Rock Creek Park on weekend mornings.
Gloria McDowell
Senior Head of School Services
Head of the Buenos Aires Office
Born in Argentina, Gloria holds a bachelor of arts in economics from Grove City College in the US state of Pennsylvania. After graduating, she returned to her home country to teach Diploma Programme economics and business and management at St. Andrew's Scots School and Northlands School, both IB World Schools in the province of Buenos Aires. At Northlands, she served as head of school, as well as academic coordinator. For many years, Gloria also acted as deputy chief examiner, examiner, and workshop leader for IB business and management.
Gloria holds a teaching degree in philosophy, psychology and pedagogy from the Argentine Teacher Training School "Dra. Alicia Moreau de Justo ", and a master’s degree in management of non-governmental organizations from Torcuato Di Tella University, the University of San Andrés (UDESA) and the Centro de Estudios de Estado y Sociedad (CEDES).
A firm believer that education is the best way to make the world a more peaceful place, Gloria has devoted her career to education and seeks to bring the benefits of IB programmes to a growing number of students and schools.
Linda Winch
IB Educator Network Regional Manager
Linda Winch joined the IB in April 2010 to manage the IB Educator Network in the Americas.
Linda received her Bachelor of Arts in History and French with Departmental Honours from the University of Western Ontario, and went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Queen’s University. She graduated with merit from Oxford Brookes University with a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership for International Schools.
Linda comes to the IB with 18 years of teaching and leadership experience in international schools in Japan, Hong Kong, the Bahamas and the United States. Linda has been a teacher and coordinator in both the Middle Years Programme and the Diploma Programme. She was also very active as a workshop leader, consultant and site visitor in the Americas region.
