China and Mongolia

School Authorization

Congratulations to the four ESF Schools in Hong Kong which have now been authorised to offer the Diploma.

-  South Island

-  Island School
-  West Island

-  King George V

Victoria Shanghai Academy is now authorised to offer MYP.

Shanghai World Foreign Language Primary School had its PYP pre-authorization visit from Mrs. Julie Todd and Wang Hong on 11 -12 December 2006.

A further six Kindergarten and primary schools have had preliminary visits in the last few months.

IBSCM activities
A successful MYP AOI job-alike meeting was held at the International School of Tianjin in December.

The MYP Coordinators’ meeting from South China met on 1 December 2006 at Utahloy International School. The focus of discussion was on community workshops.

The first meeting of PYP Coordinators from the central area of China was held on 4 December 2006 at Nanjing International School (NIS).

The coordinators from schools in Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi and Nanjing shared information about their schools and also shared the current strengths and future challenges for their schools. 

The PYP Co-ordinators formed valuable connections and made a list of ways that our schools could work together to support each other in our educational endeavors. Their next meeting will be at Suzhou Singapore International School before Chinese New Year.

The Pearl River Delta South China group of IB Diploma Coordinators met on 8 December 2006 at Li Po Chun UWC. Discussion included workshops provison, University issues in Hong Kong and a Coordinators section on the OCC.
